The Boston area has a regular accessibility networking group called the "Boston A11y Roundtable". The group generally meets on a monthly basis. Networking with each other allows us to share information about the work we do as well as accessibility news and challenges.
These informal gathering are intended for web and software developers; information technology, usability, government, and accessibility professionals; students of web development, information technology, and computer science; and people with disabilities.
Members and friends of Boston-IA regularly join other Boston area information technology and services professionals for the latest open discussion with people interested in accessibility at The Microsoft NERD Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Roundtables have been held on a monthly basis since April 2011.

Hint: If you don't know what A11y stands for in A11yBos or Boston A11y, it means that there are eleven letters between the letter A and the letter Y, hence "Accessibility"! "A11yBos" simply means "Accessibility Boston"—.
Members and friends of Boston-IA attended the second Accessibility Unconference in Boston (ally-bos) on Saturday, September 17, 2011.
Date: September 17, 2011
Time: 8:00 a.m. (registration) to 5:00 p.m.
Location: Microsoft NERD Center at One Memorial Drive, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 02142
Passionate developers, media specialists, designers, usability professionals, and accessibility experts networked, shared knowledge, and learned at the second Boston Accessibility Unconference.
Sessions included a keynote address by Larry Goldberg, Director at WGBH National Center for Accessible Media.
The theme of the day was IT accessibility, and the informal nature of the event lent itself to networking and learning.
Organizers for the event posted all the topics people came prepared to present. The audience voted for the topics they were interested in, and the schedule for the day was built on the spot (which is what makes it an "unconference").
On Wednesday evening, August 11, Boston-IA joined BostonCHI and the Boston chapter of the Usability Professionals Association for an informal summer pot-luck picnic at Mayor Thomas W. Danehy Park in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We have participated in this Boston Interactions event for several years now.
